In the wake of Bin Laden's killing, Republicans simply don't know whether to shit or go blind. Douglas Feith is falling all over himself trying to explain the Neo Con rationale for giving Bush any credit at ALL for Obama's recent accomplishments.
I would also Like to give George Bush Credit.
Thank you SO Much, Dumbya, for effectively rehabilitating the Democratic Party, despite all of its bumbling stumbling and fumbling over the past two and a half years, through your sheer ineptitude, criminality, and hubris.
The GOP has effectively transformed Obama from nutty (detached) professor into a more muscular and intellectual version of Cliff Huxtable, with possibly a better smile and sense of humor. But Don't fuck with Dad, he'll deep six you with a devil may care grin..
Having allowed the greatest loss of life on American Soil since Pearl Harbor, Dubya's subsequent lack of concern regarding Bin Laden's whereabouts (Tora Bora, anyone?), when combined with the behavior of extremist Governors and the Ryan Budget Plan at the national level, adds up to an Obama victory in 2012. This despite the traitorous Gang of Six, and an unemployment rate it increasingly appears Republican leaning corporate Boards of Directors are inflating for purely political purposes.
So Once again, Thanks GOP, And to Dubya: Thank you SO Much for those clips. You're the gift that keeps on giving, especially to Democrats. Credit where it's due!

Wisdom is Not Conventional ESPECIALLY in the Beltway
Cenk Uyger's total Dismantling of Peter Morici was the Best instance of the complete Debunking of Standard Beltway Conventional Wisdom I've seen in a LONG time.
In order to maintain "Credibility", and avoid the disapproval of those regarding themselves Serious Moderate Beltway Thinkers (Y'know Clueless Elitist Fuckwads like David Brooks?), many commentators simply Repeat what every other MORON on the Cocktail circuit says. It beats work, and real Journalism can be so impolitic.
Many of these self styled Serious Moderates in the Beltway Commentariat, and a few "Professional Liberals", are content to have a Republican on just so they can point and laugh in an effort to make themselves look Intelligent. (Right, Tweety?)
These self styled "Serious Moderates" are Loathe to truly distance themselves from the Conventional Wisdom because they know both Democrats and Republicans accept the same fundamentally false premises, and God Forbid they really embarass anyone!
As for confronting the DINO's accepting every piece of flawed logic, every well publicized false premise in the name of Political Expediency, well, we ALL have to make cynical political calculations occasionally. It's called "Realpolitik".
After all, if we're too critical of rhe democratic leadership, We Might hurt Obama's chances of Reelection in 2012, and we can't have THAT. Think of the Supreme Court...
This sort of twisted rationalization creates the perfect environment for the subsequent CAVE IN the Democrats specialize in, after all, no one will confront them on their acceptance of Frank Luntz Approved focus group tested memes created on 'K' Street, as long as they all parrot the same tired line of bullshit. And why risk the approbation of the Cocktail Circuit? Roger Ailes isn't the only one getting the memo. This is why it is my opinion that the "Mainstream" Media is even more dangerous than Propagandists like Fox. Crediblity can be dangerous.
Which brings me back to Morici.
Unless these purveyors of Beltway Common Wisdom are openly confronted on their false assumptions, and on their complete deference to the same corporate interests promoting the Republicans, we'll have to live with the consequences of One Party Rule. Cenk performed a public service tonight. I just wish more self identified Liberal Democrats would stand on principle and do the same thing.
*(I'm looking at You Thom Hartmann, and You Randi Rhodes, and You Stephanie Miller...Thank Dog for Mike Malloy and Cenk Uyger).

Latest Beltway Meme: OBAMA WILL BE BLAMED for a GOV'T SHUTDOWN!! BE VERY AFRAID DEMOCRATS!!
More would blame Congressional GOP than President Obama for gov't shutdown
"Feelings are a lot more closely divided on the first question, though: Overall, 35% would blame President Obama more for a shutdown, while 41% would find greater fault with Congressional Republicans. The D vs. R divide on this one is predictable, but notably, independents narrowly side against the GOP, 38-33, and self-described moderates blame the GOP even more, by a 48-22 margin.
It's also a good reason to be skeptical of The Hill's new poll, which asked a question similar to our own. The Hill used Pulse Opinion Research - aka New Rasmussen. POR is an outfit that Rasmussen pushed out last cycle, which allows anyone with a credit card to commission an automated survey. As Mark Blumenthal explained, "While the questions asked on specific surveys may differ, the underlying methodology used by Fox/Pulse and Rasmussen are essentially identical." The Hill doesn't seem to have made their question wording publicly available - all they say is that 29% of likely voters "would blame Democrats for a government shutdown," while 23% "would blame Republicans."

"I will walk on that picket line with you as President of the United States of America!!!" - Barack Obama
by Duane S. Vogel on Friday, February 25, 2011 at 8:42pm
"To Pretend this is about a Fiscal Crisis when it's about Wisconsin, is Mularkey" - Shepard Smith on Fox last night
"...as the President made clear in his interview with a Wisconsin television station, he firmly believes that state legislatures and governors need to address their fiscal issues, just as he is working with Congress to address fiscal problems at the federal level. His view is that it is important that everyone work together towards that goal; that public sector employees obviously have to tighten their belts, others have to tighten their belts, but that this should not be an effort that goes after some of the fundamental rights of collective bargaining in the name of reducing the deficit"---- Press Secretary Jay (Mularkey) Carney
Will Obama Find Those Shoes?
"And understand this: If American workers are being denied their right to organize and collectively bargain when I’m in the White House, I will put on a comfortable pair of shoes myself, I’ll will walk on that picket line with you as President of the United States of America. Because workers deserve to know that somebody is standing in their corner"
Obama Has No Plans To Visit Wisconsin
WASHINGTON -- President Obama has no current plans to visit Wisconsin despite pledging as a presidential candidate to âwalk on that picket lineâ should workers be denied bargaining rights.

Will Obama Find Those Shoes?

In the “flashback quote of the day” at Taegan Goddard’s Political Wire, he highlights words from candidate Barack Obama, made in a 2007 speech (and referenced in Slate). That quote is as follows (spoken word differs slightly from the prepared text quoted by others, what follows is transcribed from the video):
"And understand this: If American workers are being denied their right to organize and collectively bargain when I’m in the White House, I will put on a comfortable pair of shoes myself, I’ll will walk on that picket line with you as President of the United States of America. Well, will we see it? Or will it end up like the closing of Guantanamo Bay, a public option, or restoring constitutional checks and balances? He has given credence lately to false framing from the right with his freezing of pay of government workers, extention of the Bush tax cuts, a “deficit commission,” more budget cutting, and lip service to looking into deregulation when deregulation led us to financial collapse. Will he find those shoes?
